Harrison Street School students participating in the Geneva Park District's Kids Zone raised more than $400 last week for mission projects in Africa. The fundraiser raised money for KidsCaring4Kids during "Pay it Forward Week." This is an effort initiated by one teenage girl named Kendall, who was moved by a TV show back in 2004 to help AIDS orphans in Africa. The kids all took home a "Spare Change" jar, decorated in their own individual style, to try and collect that loose change at home. They brainstormed other ways of earning money for this "pay it forward" challenge. Some decided to do extra chores at home or maybe donate part of their weekly allowance. The whole Harrison Street family was included as all kids at the school got the chance to participate in the "Tootsie-Popalooza". During lunch periods for two days, tootsie pops were sold for $1. The kids raised $428.85 to send off to help a variety of mission projects in Africa.
