How Kids Caring 4 Kids Works
Kids Caring 4 Kids is a lean operation with a two-fold mission:
- Raising funds and awareness to extend hope and opportunity to kids in Africa through proven programs that are effectively meeting real needs.
- Giving kids in North America a global vision—inviting them to have a part in something BIG and showing them how it’s done.
Kids Caring 4 Kids has no paid staff in the U.S. or on the field in Africa. Instead, we partner with highly reputable organizations who share our passion. We receive requests to support a variety of programs and general principles define the kinds of projects that capture our heart and fall within our mission.
They are:
- Programs that are effectively meeting the needs of vulnerable children—especially those orphaned by AIDS.
- Programs with a geographic focus on the African continent.
- Organizations and programs that are recognized as trustworthy, with a proven track-record of addressing real needs.
- Projects that will inspire other children and young people across North America to open their hearts and hands to meet the needs of others.
- Organizations with a conscious emphasis on making every dollar count. The goal of KC4K is to keep expenses low and maximize the impact of donations on supporting children impacted by AIDS.
- Organizations who are committed to high accountability and keeping in close touch with KC4K. Personal stories of children whose lives that have been touched by a KC4K project and other quality information from those “on the ground” is vital and highly valued.
Our Current Partners
World Bicycle Relief. Although they work in many developing countries, World Bicycle Relief has a goal to reach 500,000 adults, orphans and vulnerable children in Zambia where HIV/AIDS is rampant with bicycles. Bikes provide access to healthcare, education and economic development. KC4K funds this program so AIDS affected children who live far from school can get there more easily.
World Vision. This international Christian relief and development organization has a long history of proven impact. They work in nearly 100 countries around the globe to find lasting ways to improve the lives of children and their families. KC4K has provided funds to World Vision to drill wells and boreholes in Zambian communities where they desperately need clean water to keep people from getting sick. No longer will people need to walk great distances to find water, which often is contaminated.
Touch a Life Foundation. The focus of TAL is to stand in the gap for hurting and exploited children. Their efforts started out small to help children in Vietnam and Cambodia but have grown across the globe to Ghana. KC4K funds are helping to care for child slaves rescued in Ghana, providing them with daily needs of food, shelter, education, and health care.
Kerus Global Education. “Kerus” in Greek means to “do something with passion.” The passion of this organization is implementing programs that promote character development and prevention of HIV/AIDS. KC4K funds helped build and outfit the new Kerus Orphan Care Center in Soshanguve, South Africa that will eventually serve about 100 children daily.
Bright Hope International. BH serves the poorest of the poor in the world, in particular communities where people earn less than $1 per day. In partnership with Bright Hope, KC4K has provided nutritional meals and food supplements every week for a year to over 600 orphans, widows and AIDS patients in two Zambian communities. We also supplied funds to build a badly needed dorm to house and care for 30 orphan girls who had been sleeping in a school classroom.
Hope for Life Center (Nakuru, Kenya). In partnership with a suburban Chicago church with an AIDS initiative, Kids Caring 4 Kids supplied funds to build a community center in this region swelling with AIDS orphans. The center was begun by a Kenyan woman whose heart broke because of the overwhelming need for orphan care in her community. Every day, over 120 orphans formerly neglected children receive meals, homework help, skill training, and love.
